Spitfire Open Judo Competition.

Members of the Young Judo Club travelled to Capel-Lene-Ferne for the Folkestone
open judo championships. This event was well supported by both juniors and
seniors and proved to be a great first judo event for some of the clubs novice
players. In particular Keith Brown and Mark Salter excelled themselves by
beating a black belt with a strangle in their fights. Both of them train in MMA
with John on a Wednesday night and have only had a couple of judo lessons.
They proved that determination can overcome inexperience. Junior head coach Keith
Costa was very impressed with all of the juniors who attended, especially as for
some of them it was their first experience of competition. Dylan White won silver
and showed he really enjoyed the day with a constant smile throughout. Lewis Clarke
won the over 45kg group by beating a player 35kg heavier than himself.
